Industrial Ramie Growing on Reclaimed Ion-Adsorption Rare Earth Elements Mine Tailings in Southern China: Defibration and Fibers Quality

نویسندگان

چکیده

Ramie plants (Boehmeria nivea) have been cultivated on ion-adsorption rare earth elements (REEs) mine tailings and showed a low ability to accumulate REEs, especially in the stems (ΣREE = 24 ± 17 mg kg−1) with higher concentration leaves roots 57 66 kg−1). individual fibers were isolated using three degumming processes: traditional alkali treatment (AT), steam explosion (SE) after neutral (SEN) or basic (SEB) impregnation. Cellulose-rich (> 80%) fine very amounts of non-cellulosic sugars (< 5%), REE concentrations ≈ 4–6 high mechanical strength (tensile 260–540 cN/fiber, breaking point 20–50 cN/fiber) produced. However, SE resulted more degraded cracks slightly affecting their tensile properties.

Geochemical fractions of rare earth elements in soil around a mine tailing in Baotou, China

Rare earth mine tailing dumps are environmental hazards because tailing easily leaches and erodes by water and wind. To assess the influence of mine tailing on the geochemical behavior of rare earth elements (REEs) in soil, sixty-seven surface soil samples and three soil profile samples were collected from different locations near China's largest rare earth mine tailing. The total concentration...

Accumulation and fractionation of rare earth elements in atmospheric particulates around a mine tailing in Baotou, China

Rare earth elements (REEs) have been increasingly emitted into the 8 atmosphere with a worldwide increase in use of these metals. However, the research 9 on REEs in atmospheric particulates is fairly limited. In this paper, atmospheric 10 particulates including total suspended particulate (TSP) matter and particles with an 11 equivalent aerodynamic diameter less than 10 μm (PM10) were collected...

Effects of exogenous rare earth elements on phosphorus adsorption and desorption in different types of soils.

Phosphorus (P) is an important biogeochemical element and the environmental fate of P receives increasing attention. Through batch equilibration experiments, the adsorption and desorption of P in the absence and presence of exogeneous rare earth elements (REEs) were investigated in five types of agricultural soil samples collected from China. The results showed that the addition of different do...

Rare Earth Elements Profile

Definitions and characteristics The rare earth elements (REE) (sometimes referred to as the rare earth metals) are a group of 17 chemically similar metallic elements, including the 15 lanthanides, scandium and yttrium. The lanthanides are elements spanning atomic numbers 57 (lanthanum, La) to 71 (lutetium, Lu) (Table 1). The lanthanides all occur in nature, although promethium, the rarest, only...

Concentration and recycling of rare earth elements (REEs) from iron mine waste using a combination of physical separation methods

This study aims to investigate and optimize the effects of the main parameters including the particle size, gravity and magnetic separation combination, high gradient magnetic separation, magnetic field intensity, shaking table slope, washing water flow, and electrostatic separation upon the rare earth element (REE) recoveries from iron mine waste. The electron microprobe showed that high amoun...
